LONG BESUNGAI (1930 – 1933)
Nai re buau cen Long

tai buau la-a.
The Kenyah
people of Long Iran then moved and settled down at Long
Besungai. Long Besungai is a small river stretch out from main Linau
River. In those three years they stayed there, they had always faced with natural
disaster; such as flood, and the water level rose frequently. Within those three years, they had experienced two big flood. Due to the calamities, they
decided they had to move upstream. They had a meeting and agreed to
move again.
DATA
BONGET (1933 - 1935)
Buau re cen Long

Data Bonget ne ia ke’ belua’ alo Besungai. Mudip re ka’ Data Bonget un tiga,

kua’ kimet ke tai buau la-a.Oman re ke buau ke Tekulang, Temekoleh
Irang lepa matai. Miat Encau saliu ia.
From Long
Besungai, they travelled to Data Bonget. Data Bonget is
considered as the middle of Besungai River. They found out that their lives in
Data Bonget were so much better and there were no difficulties caused by sin
(they belief sin can cause them to be cursed and caused trouble). But the land
for cultivating is not enough for all of them anymore. After three years living
there, again they had their mutual decision to move. On the year they decided
to move to Tekulang, their leader Temekoleh Erang passed
away. Miat Encau took the position.
TEKULANG
(1936 -1945)
Un atek lan ne, ka’
tana’ oko le ke’ Usun Apau te dau re ke tai buau. Un tepo-o,
nta dau perintah oba’ ida tai buau ka teh oban co’ ale’ ngan tepa pagan

ida cen Tekulang tai meno’ senganak re ka’ pengiyan. Dalem 5 oman Miat Encau
jadi ketua, Uloi Lian saliu ia.
Actually
the next destination was Usun Apau. But the government thought that
the place was beyond their reach and hard for them to monitor. So, the kenyah
Badeng moved to Tekulang. During this time, they were led by Miat
Encau. The kenyah Badeng from Pengiyan always visit their kinsmen in
Tekulang and vice versa. Miat Encau led them in 5 years before Uloi Lian was elected as the leader.
Un kira-kira pulo’ oman
Badeng Mudip ka’ Tekulang ngan tana’
oma re pe un nta sukup. Pekimet pe ida kelo’ ke tai buau cen ja la-a. Un dau ca
kimet Uloi lian kelo’ ke ngkin ida
ke tai buau ka’ Lusung. Tana’ Lusung
ne baen dau re un atek tiga ale’.
Tana’ sengim ngan kado’atuk. Ja nai ne buau mecin Tekulang.
Around ten years settling in Tekulang,
the land for cultivating got lesser and it was not enough for them. They again,
thought about moving to another place. Uloi
Lian proposed to move to Lusung.
The Lusung land was known as an arable
land and had lots of fish too. So, they made their mind and left
Tekulang.
Nai asat re pelempet
Cen
ja ne dau nta jadi tai buau ka’
Lusong.
They travelled from Tekulang to
Keluan. Keluan River is a branch of Linau
River. The news about the Kenyah Badeng moving to Lusong came to the Kayan tribe’s attention. When the
Kenyah Badeng arrived at Keluan, the Kayan tribe approached and stop them from
moving to Lusong (Lusong Laku). The
Kayan tribe didn’t want them to move to Lusong because Lusong was their land
and the place of their sustenance. So, the Kenyah people stopped heading to Lusong.

next? (It doesn’t stop here, so stay tuned.)
The
Kenyah people moved a lot and I can’t imagine how they managed to move around
and stayed in a big group. The leaders must had very good leadership skills and led the people with courage and confidence. Salute to
our Kenyah leaders.
